Lee Loughnane is Founder & CEO of SocialSource, a startup focused on delivering social technologies that make a difference. SocialSource is the creator of Phew!, a free mobile app for kids to view parent-crowdsourced age-appropriate YouTube and mobile content. Lee and his team at SocialSource were awarded the Game Changer Award by Tri-Valley Innovation Center. SocialSource was also recognized by US Congress, CA state senate, and 5 East Bay city mayors and school district board superintendents. A commercial version of Phew! for elementary schools is currently in pilot and third mobile app in design.
Lee has spent over 20 years in the software industry in corporate development, alliances, sales, product management, engineering and consulting across multiple industries and technologies. Prior to starting SocialSource, Lee was Director of Alliances at Pivotal Software, a joint venture started by VMware, EMC and GE Digital. At Pivotal he was responsible for planning, launching and improving joint businesses with alliance partners. Before Pivotal, Lee also held various positions in alliance sales and business development for VMware and EMC where he helped form profitable business relationships in middleware, cloud and virtualization market segments. He has also held positions with other large technology companies such as PeopleSoft and Accenture, and he as also worked at various startup and mid-size companies.
Lee graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelors of science in Chemistry. During his years there he worked for a professor in the College of Chemistry supporting PhD student on bioinorganic research. Lee is a father of 3 elementary school boys and one daughter in middle school. He and his wife enjoy spending time with their family as much as possible. Lee also enjoys trail running, mountain biking and triathlons.
